Titanic archaeologists

Seems to be staring at you but he’s staring straight through you
Glass eyed stare that’s seems cruel and ceramic
Fragile uncertainty wits held together by a shoestring budget
Icy as a glazier on a tragic day that could be titanic .

Dare to speak but the empty eyes hide hidden teeth
No tears are present but sadness lies somewhere beneath
No x-ray vision could ever see the tip of this heated iceberg
Trembling hands show you that confidence was shaken and stirred.

A portrait so hostile features are cracked like the arid desert
Like a Roman mosaic covered for centuries now beginning to show
Faded beauty releasing secrets of what was once
Archaeologists will never understand this view from the outside.
