take my last penny
try not to spend it by the end of the day
you know how much it’s worth?
more than a fraction of a pound
it was my last penny
my pockets empty I’ve nothing less to give
but I gave it you
I will find another way to eat tonight
so don’t discard my gift
even though it has little worth
the thought that counts
it’s not thoughtless or worthless
it’s a lottery prize with a hidden surprise
remember I gave you my last penny
I want you to remember my generosity
I want you to frame it
it could be the last thing I see
