To think within my thoughts

To understand within my mind

Illogical 

Oh to know 

To strive 

To save 

To have 

yet not leave 

Compassion 

In striving’s dust

Tenderness 

in power’s tall shadow

Mercy 

in pride’s cold claw

Balancing that which I know I am 

And that which I know I can become

For better or for worse 

Marrying myself to the pursuit 

Of something, I know not what 

The betterment of mankind 

The inner workings of my own soul

The endless well of knowledge which
